It has also appointed Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, a Nobel laureate in chemistry and Father of Supramolecular Chemistry as its Chief Technology Adviser, and hires Ph. D.  and Master’s graduates from famous Chinese and international universities each year to strengthen basic innovation and explore solutions to common problems in the coatings industry. 3TREES has also undertaken a number of important frontier research projects funded by China’s 863 Program and provincial and municipal science and technology programs, and established research cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fuzhou University and other leading research institutes, obtaining multiple industry-leading research results. 3TREES has built sound research and technical facilities infrastructure, including a 6,000㎡ R&D Center at its headquarters, National Accredited Enterprise Technology Center, Post-doctoral Research Work Station, Academician and Expert Work Station, National Accredited Laboratory, as well as Hazardous Substances Testing Lab, Constant Temperature and Humidity Lab and Microbiological Lab. It has set up 9 regional research centers across China, introduced advanced IT and formula management systems and installed over 100 high-end research equipment. Meanwhile, carrying forward the internationalization idea of "going out and bringing in" and focusing on most urgently needed high and new materials in the industry, 3TREES (Shanghai) Academy of Sciences will further raise the technological level of the industry and enhanced its global influence and standing. 3TREES has participated in the formulation of 50 national and industrial standards and now owns more than 300 patents. It has also developed more than 30 first-class formulas, and published nearly 50 papers in core technical journals.
